Get Started with Canon - Setting up your PIXMA straight out of the box¶
Setting up your new Canon PIXMA printer is quick and easy. Whether you’re using it for home, school, or office needs, Canon ensures a smooth setup experience. To begin the installation process, visit canon.com/ijsetup where you can find drivers, manuals, and setup instructions tailored for your specific PIXMA model.
What’s in the Box?¶
When you unbox your Canon PIXMA printer, make sure the following items are included:
Canon PIXMA printer unit
Power cord and adapter
Ink cartridges (usually black and color)
Installation CD (optional)
Setup guide/manual
USB cable (only with select models)
Initial Setup Steps¶
1. Power On the Printer Connect the printer to a power source and press the Power button. Wait until the device initializes.
2. Install Ink Cartridges Lift the top cover and install the provided ink cartridges in their respective slots. The printer will often run an automatic alignment after this step.
3. Load Paper Insert plain paper into the rear or front paper tray depending on your model.
4. Download Drivers and Software Go to canon.com/ijsetup and enter your PIXMA model number. Download the necessary drivers and the Canon IJ Setup software.
5. Connect to Wi-Fi or USB Use the on-screen prompts to connect your PIXMA to your Wi-Fi network or via USB. Most modern PIXMA printers support wireless setup using the Canon IJ Network Tool.
6. Complete Installation Run the downloaded setup file on your computer or mobile device. Follow the instructions to complete installation and perform a test print.
